Body shape visualizer
Your dress form, drawn from five measurements as you type them. The same drawing code makes every figure on this site, so the form you see is the form the rules would classify, shown beside the reference form it reads as.
Body Shape Visualizer
Five measurements. The form redraws as you type; the drawing is proportion, not size.
hip 39 > max(bust, shoulder) 36 × 1.05 → hip-dominant

How the form is drawn
Every figure on this site is a dress form drawn from five circumferences by one function: the six reference forms on the homepage, the plates on the shape pages, the calculator's live figure and the cover of the paid report. This page is that function pointed at your own numbers at full size.
Widths are scaled to the figure's own widest measurement, so 36-28-39 and 72-56-78 draw the same form. Proportion is the whole point: a body shape is a set of ratios, not a size, and the visualizer shows the ratios. Between the five measured lines the outline is a curve that never overshoots them, so the bust, waist and hip you typed are the true extremes of the drawing.
The fifth measurement is the one the body shape calculator does not take. The high hip, three to four inches below the waist at the top of the hip bone, is what separates a spoon from a pear, and a drawing with that line in it can show the shelf. The full method is on the methodology page.
The six reference forms
Each reference form is drawn from measurements that classify as that shape, which is checked by a test every time the site is built. Yours is drawn the same way.
What it cannot show
- Height, weight or vertical proportion. The form is proportion only, which is also why it is honest.
- Depth. A tape measures a circumference and the drawing shows a width, so fullness carried forward reads the same as fullness carried wide.
- Flesh and bone, the things the Kibbe body type quiz reads. A dress form has neither.
Questions
- What does a body shape visualizer do?
- It draws a figure from numbers instead of asking you to pick one from a chart. This one takes five circumferences (shoulders, bust, waist, high hip and hips) and draws a front-view dress form whose widths come from those measurements, then names which of the six body shapes the form reads as and shows the reference form for that shape beside yours.
- Is this a 3D body visualizer?
- No. It is a front-view outline, the way a dress form looks from the fitting-room mirror, drawn by proportion. A 3D model needs height and weight and estimates the rest; this drawing uses only the tape readings you give it and estimates nothing except the curve between them. The drawing is honest about what a tape can see and silent about what it cannot, which is depth.
- Why does the form look exaggerated?
- Because at the size of a drawing a true 0.82 waist ratio and a true 0.73 one look the same, so the differences from your widest measurement are scaled up by a fixed factor. The scaling keeps every ordering (which end is wider, how far the waist comes in) and only makes it visible. Two figures with the same ratios draw identically whatever their size.
- Can it show a spoon body shape?
- Yes, and it is the only tool on this site that both draws and classifies one from numbers. The calculator takes four measurements and cannot see the upper-hip shelf; this page asks for the high hip as a fifth, so a hip-dominant figure whose high hip measures within 7% of the full hip is drawn with the step and named a spoon.
- Is this a female body shape simulator?
- It is drawn from women's proportions and classifies into the six women's body shapes. Men's proportions go through the men's body shape calculator, which draws the same kind of form from shoulders, chest, waist and hips.
- Where do my measurements go?
- Nowhere. The form is drawn in your browser from the numbers in the fields, and nothing is sent or stored. Analytics records only which shape the form read as, never the numbers.
No tape measure?
The body type quiz reads the same six shapes from seven questions in a mirror, and the photo analyzer reads them from one full-body photo that never leaves your device.
